The effect of fibrin γ377-395peptide-conjugated γ-Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticles on the number of activated microglia. Statistical analysis was performed using 2-way ANOVA followed by Tukey multiple comparison test. Area count of the stained microglia for IB4 showed a significant decrease in the number of activated microglia at both ages when fibrin γ377-395 conjugated to nanoparticles was injected compared to saline (A) (at age 3.5 months: n = 5 mice, 171 areas; at age 6 months: n = 6, 108 areas). Although there was a significant effect for age, no significant differences were found between free fibrin γ377-395 and saline injections (B) (at age 3.5 months: n = 2 mice, 20 areas; at age 6 months: n = 3, 38 areas).
