Fragmentation of DNA in cells exposed to AA AgNP (B) and untreated control cells (A) (100x). To assess the genotoxic effects of AAAgNP, the comet assay was used. Fragmentation of DNA (indicated by comet tails) was significantly induced by AAAgNP treatment (90 ± 1.3 μm) compared to control cells (20 ± 0.71 μm, 95% Cl = −73 to −67; p < 0.0001).
