The magnetic nanoparticles (the arrow symbolises its moment) have a physical extent mean diameter of d ≈ 50 nm and the diameter of biotin-agarose beads is (dA ≈ 5 μ m). The large extent of streptavidin (mw = 53000 g/mol) is about 10 nm, whereas the biotin molecule is much smaller (mw = 244 g/mol).
