IL-8 production by the Caco-2/HT29-MTX co-culture following exposure to CuO NMs and CuSO4. The Caco-2/Raji B (a) and Caco-2/HT29-MTX (b) co-cultures were exposed to cell culture medium (0), CuO NMs or CuSO4 at concentrations of 3.17, 6.34 or 12.68 Cu µg/cm2 for 24 h. The level of IL-8 in the cell supernatant was determined using an ELISA. Data are expressed as mean IL-8 concentration (pg/ml) ± SEM (n = 3).
