Detection of gold labeled EVs in small metastatic nodules. C57BL/6 mice were injected with 2 × 105 of B16F10 cells to produce lung metastasis and then injected day 19 with either DiR EVs (EV), DiR EV-AuNP (EV-AuNP) or AuNP-PEG-FA (AuNP). On day 20, animals were necropsied, and lungs were analyzed by gold nucleation detection. Histological gold detection in the lungs of mice inoculated with a DiR EVs, b DiR EV-AuNP and c AuNP-PEG-FA. In all cases, dotted squares show magnified images of sections highlighted to the left by red squares, while red arrows indicate the gold nucleation sites (GN).
