Ru@SiO2-PA induced enhanced cells apoptosis. SGC-7901 cells seeded in 6-well plate were treated with 2.5, 5, 10 and 20 μg/ml Ru@SiO2 or Ru@SiO2-PA for 6 h. Cells after treatment were loaded with AnnexinV probe and the early apoptosis was examined by fluorescent microscope (magnification, ×200). b Ru@SiO2-PA induced enhanced caspase-3 activation. SGC-7901 cells after treatment with Ru@SiO2 or Ru@SiO2-PA for 72 h were collected and total protein was extracted. Caspase-3 activity was detected with a specific Ac-DEVD-AMC substrate by fluorescent microreader. c Ru@SiO2-PA induced enhanced caspase-3 cleavage and cytochrome-c release. SGC-7901 cells after treatment with Ru@SiO2 or Ru@SiO2-PA for 72 h were collected and total protein was extracted. Protein expression was detected by western bolt analysis. Bars with “*” or “**” represents P < 0.05 or P < 0.01 level, respectively
