From: Pancreatic islet organoids-on-a-chip: how far have we gone?
The application of organoids-on-a-chip platform in pancreatic islet research. Microfluidic platforms enable reproducibility of islet organoid culture and differentiation. Besides, these systems enable efficient functional evaluation of pancreatic islet organoids, such as single-islet-sensitivity detection, long-term real-time monitoring, and automatic glucose adjustment to provide relevant stimulation. Furthermore, islet organoids-on-a-chip platform can be applied in disease modeling, drug screening and the quantity control of cell therapy for diabetes mellitus
