The five mice that survived in the NBTXR3 + XRT + PLT group in Fig. 1 were re-challenged with 5 × 10⁴ 344SQR cells on the right flank at least 60 d after the last fraction of 12 Gy. Five mice with 5 × 10⁴ 344SQR cells inoculated on the right flank served as the control. All the mice were euthanized 28 d after tumor inoculation. Lungs were harvested from the mice, and the number of lung metastases was counted. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. **P < 0.01, NS, not significant
