Targeted delivery to inflamed endothelial cells. Adhesion molecules expressed by endothelial cells during inflammation include VCAM-1, ICAM-1, PECAM, E-selectin, and P-selectin. Anti-inflammatory therapy includes the direct targeting and blockage of these adhesion molecules using antibodies, as well as nanoparticles for the delivery of pharmaceutic and genetic agents
